Campaign Branding: Solar Flair Sweepstakes
concepting a digital multimedia campaign for a sponsored sweepstakes contest

Client: Alliant Energy and Everlight Solar have the resources to do a big giveaway, and reason to want more people to learn about (and switch to) solar power, so I chose them as hypothetical co-sponsors for a solar power giveaway.
Goals: The objective of this campaign is to generate more public interest in converting to solar power by showing that it’s feasible. Visually, I needed something more eye-catching than the black rectangles of reality—something distinctive and fun, with versatile elements that could be reused across multiple platforms.
I started drafting visuals for two concepts initially, a retro psychedelic “flair” concept and a neon cyberpunk version. Both had potential, but I opted for the more illustrative style as the potentially more platform-fluid approach.

I leaned into my goal of making solar feel doable when choosing the prizes and writing the entry form. The truth is, not every house is well-suited for solar panels (and not everyone lives in a house), so collecting some initial data to determine feasibility is helpful to both the solar company and the potential customers.

To keep the solar goal reachable, I added a secondary prize that anyone could use regardless of their housing situation: a portable solar battery.
The illustrative elements were easily reworked from the initial landing page for use in an Instagram story and a series of MailChimp emails, serving their purpose as distinctive yet versatile visual elements that tie multiple advertising platforms together into a cohesive campaign.
